Murder by Marines in Iraq

A little over a year ago it was alleged that Marines intentionally killed 24 Iraqis in Haditha. Now, an investigation by the US Naval Criminal Investigative Service is nearing an end, and it will support the claims that the killings were intentional, according to The Guardian.

During the Vietnam War, a similar incident occurred at My Lai, in which US soldiers killed hundreds of unarmed Vietnamese. Later, soldiers said that every company had its version of the massacre. Only one person was ever convicted for the massacre, although clearly it took many more to carry it out.

Also, seven Marines and one sailor have been charged with abduction and murder after the killing of an Iraqi in Hamdania, which is west of Baghdad.

Not only, then, are innocent people being “caught in the crossfire,” but they are being murdered as well by American Marines. Yet we’re freeing Iraqis. If Marines kill Iraqis, how are they protecting them?

Iraq near civil war – Is it avoidable?
I have been hearing a lot on the news about Iraq nearing a civil war, and that it's only a few days away. Do you think there is still time to stop the inevitable? Or is it too late already?
