Support for War Drops as Casualties Rise

Recent polls show American opposition for the war in Iraq is at an all-time high; each of three major polls show that almost two-thirds of Americans oppose it, according to the Christian Science Monitor. According to an AP/Ipsos Poll, sixty percent say the war in Iraq may have increased the chance of a terrorist attack in the US.

According to the Los Angeles Times, violent deaths in Iraq have averaged 110 a day for the past few weeks, largely due to what the US government terms “sectarian violence” and the militaries. The Pentagon also admitted that “conditions that could lead to civil war exist.”

EDIT: I changed a sentence above to correct an error. The entry originally said that there had been 110 deaths a day for the past three months, which was incorrect.
