Teenager Killed “On Suspicion”

A 16-year-old boy near Gaza was killed when Israelis attacked Khan Younis, according to the BBC. Witnesses said that he was a civilian; an IDF spokesperson said that he was shot due to suspicions that he was planting a bomb.

Imagine for a moment that your son or daughter (if you have one) was shot and killed by an invading force because they were “suspicious” that he or she was planting a bomb. The boy in Gaza did not get the chance to live to his 17th birthday, but since it was possible he was planting a bomb that might kill or injure a soldier occupying the land on which he lived, he was killed. Just like that.
