Update on the Ceasefire

Israel is prepared to free 1,000 prisoners in a deal for Gilad Shalit, a captured Israeli soldier, according to Haaretz. An Israeli source said “We agreed to release several hundred women and children, mostly the young among them… We have also agreed to release several hundred [adult male] Palestinian prisoners, among them prisoners sentenced to many years in prison.”

There is nonetheless concern that the deal will not be accepted, in part due to pressure from Iran and Syria.

It is also reported that Israeli soldiers opened fire in Gaza, killing a civilian teenager, according to Yahoo.
