Paris Conference on Child Soldiers

Representatives from at least 58 countries, as well as from numerous non-governmental organizations, are gathering in Paris for a two-day conference aimed at demobilizing child soldiers, according to USA Today. The United Nations estimates that 250,000 children under 18 are involved in armed conflicts around the world.

It is believed that about 40% of child soldiers are girls, who are often sexually assaulted, as are many boys.
